World to Discover Steve Jobs Theater on September 12

When the Cupertino giant will launch the iPhone 8 and some other stuff. The Foster-designed building is huge: its circumference is bigger than the gigantic Pentagon and its diameter longer than the Knock Nevis.

All set for the tech juggernaut to make another dent in the Universe.

iPhone is 10

It's 9h41am in San Francisco on January 9, 2007 when Steve Jobs starts introducing the product that will change everything. Mike Lazardis, co-CEO of BlackBerry, is puzzled for a few months until he opens one and stares at its guts. And doesn't find anything that makes him happy: he understands that he might now have to compete against a Mac. Microsoft derides the touchphone in public. But Gates would eventually use one.

Blackberry would still go on to more than double its market share to 20% over the following couple of years. By which time the iPhone would have seized 17% of the global market. And help Apple become the most valuable company in the world.

More than a billion iPhones have been sold so far. A little bit more than the 10 million that Jobs had expected to sell by the end of 2008.

What Will The Stock Market Do?

It will fluctuate famously answered J.P. Morgan a long time ago. But what's on everyone's mind these days is "what will Apple do?". We'll find out on Tuesday in California and Wednesday in China. Here are some of my guesses.
  1. Take the iPhone the iPod route: have it in different colours and use something other than gorilla glass to lower the price of the company's cash cow for better penetration in emerging markets.
  2. An apple TV. Man, they've been looking at this for some time now. If they are happy and roll it out, get ready to throw away what you have at home.
  3. A smartwatch. There are a few out there -- Samsung just unveiled its idea of what it should look like a few days ago --  but they are expensive and don't have that Apple design signature in them.
  4. A driverless car. That would surely upend development efforts in this market namely those of Google.
  5. Enter new markets: you know what I mean if you read Mona Simpson's eulogy or the iBio.
  6. Little tweaks of existing products. These should not be underestimated. It's very difficult to keep on simplifying great products.
Let's see.

iOS 6 Dumps Google Maps

And YouTube too. It's part of the war that's been slowly intensifying between Apple and Google. So that the latest operating system launched by the Cupertino-based tech giant has been bundled with a map application developed by Apple itself.

I have to say that I find the standard view pretty crappy. Steve would probably have said that it sucks and I doubt he would have allowed it to go through as it is. Granted that the 3D option looks pretty nice. As the following pic of Gotham City confirms.

What's the next step? Apple going into search?

Who's Got The Better Voice Assistant?

iPhone 4S or Galaxy Nexus? This review shows that the latter has a better voice and is quicker for some searches. What do you think?
