For 629 Cleaners Earning a Pittance Light Finally Appears at the End of the Tunnel

They were earning Rs1,500 per month. Some for 11 years. Which coincides roughly with the Sithanen flat tax. They will now earn around Rs9,000. Most of the extra Rs55-60m they will take home as a group every year will probably be spent – and help make the economy grow faster – unlike the additional monies which the trickle-down policies have handed to those who already have everything.

Kudos to the CTSP for fighting for these ladies.

I wonder if he was given rewards by 'you-know-who' for his reforms (i.e flat or fat tax?)

Ahem, after Subron's fight for 20% increase for manual workers in the sugar indistry, then this, now I think we are going somewhere. If setting Rs9,000 for a job that requires almost no qualifications - there is no other job paying less than this, right? - can we assume that this should be the starting point in setting the minimum wage for each job type?
And then we'll have to set a standard occupation list as there is in developed countries, but that's another story, so, let's start by this.
Let's just hope they don't copy from the French euphemisms for artificially overvaluing job titles, like 'technicien de surface'.

There are many jobs that pay less than Rs9,000. I remember hearing that 100,000 – or about 20% of our labour force – earn less than Rs5,000 per month. So I just googled "100,000 personnes moins roupies ctsp" and sure enough I landed on this interesting page.

Some people are saying that there are jobs but people going for their first jobs are looking for too high a salary and lack a good enough personality. It's the same excuses that's been around for 75 if not more years. It definitely doesn't apply to the 629 cleaners – they show they have a good enough personality in the clip above – and in many many many other cases. It's just that they seemed to have been abused into signing for a slavery-type of job contract. Wonder which company did that? Shouldn't we get the name and shame it?

The other thing that we need to ask ourselves is what is the problem with too many of our decision-makers? Is it that they have a wonderful personality but don't understand anything and are not qualified?

My goodness, you are right! I completely forgot about that cruel state of things... And it's not a surprise to see that they have to toil away for gruelling shifts and seek more than one occupation to make ends meet. So they don't have time for their children and their own health, both mental and physical. And therefore some day discover that their unsupervised children have drifted into deeds that end up on trash-obsessed tabloids...
Dodoland, Dodoland. As if some conspiracy by some is in action to keep part of our population perpetuating a cycle of nondevelopment. Won't this blow up in our face someday?

That battle could not be won without some unfairness from government representatives and ensuing sacrifices for the aggrived ones. This lady is one the ballsiest persons alive for having undergone a hunger strike after such an accident. And this man too!
