MMM Promises Sparks in Parliament

So said Rajesh Bhagwan to Le Defi+ a couple of days ago. Congratulations Rajesh for finally remembering why we send an opposition to parliament.

Zotte someil fine casser enfin ! Instead of going to "koz koze" for 3 months with Navin, they should have done their homework as Opposition. Aster laisse zotte travil un peu 'to earn their salary' !

Well said Anonymous. Everything should be deserved. Sometimes in politics you get the impression that there is a natural justice prevailing. Mauritius after all has not done so bad over the past decades with the respective teams in office. Of course we could have done a lot better.
The MMM has got only to play its role fully to stand a chance in future call-outs.

If they had taken the trouble to read this paper: "Who Can Explain The Mauritian Miracle: Meade, Romer, Sachs, or Rodrik?" written by Arvind Subramanian and Devesh Roy, they would have known how to face the elections of May 5. But these people are just lazy folks who pretend to know everything (even on nothing) !!!

Sanjay Jagatsingh said...

Yep, we need a government and an opposition that deliver.
The Subramanian-Roy paper is available here.

Thanks Sanjay. Good job for our younger folks.

@Bruno: si Berenger enkor leader mo pense li pu bizin mendie ene lalians ek FSM ek Parti Malin.

@ Bruno & SJ:
Nek guette enn koutt couma nuo vocabulaire inn sanzer dans l'espace enn election: nou'nn arett dire "faire enn l'alliance", nou pe dire "mendier enn l'alliance" aster... Coumsa enn l'alliance politique ki supposer enn z'affer neutre inn fini vinn enn terme péjoratif (ena enn connotation negative) aster. Quelle dérive!! Merci Paulo!

Sanjay Jagatsingh said...

@akagugo: Berenger fin bizin mendier ene lalians parski li pa p kompran mem kin ler li al kassyet. Ramgoolam ine bizin trouv ene solisyon politik a lesek politik ekonomik dernier 5 banane.

akagugo said...

@ SJ:
Zombie mendiant! :-)

Bein, pou ki MMM vinn coumsa surement enn la-dans:
1 - using the same methods that they publicly decry
2 - leader worship: energy of youngsters devoted to bootlicking instead of concentrating on new strategies and problem-solving
3 - failing to phase out the old dinosaurs
4 - keeping silent on issues which should have caused an outcry from the same old dinosaurs if they were 30 years younger
5 - failure to attract new talent

2. Bootlicking la pa fasil sa mam. + brainwashed ek wastewater net.

3. Kitfwa paulo p pense pu offer so ban komrad-in-arms o Smithsonian!

4. Wi c ban bel socialys sa. Kuma to met to jaket kwir ek to zwe soldat la lit militant to vine socialist.

5. C vre ki zot pan fouti attire talent. Travays oussi so masinn rekritman ine kasse: Ramgoolam ine fer ene gran parti kumsa vine ene simitir lelefan MMM.

I agree perfectly with akagugo's diagnostic even if it's not exhaustive but do not agree that this is not the place for MMM-watch. No my young friend, this is the place also to expose those things. Don't expect l'Express or Le Defi (which is partly owned by BAI) to publish your views. And it's someone who has worked there who is saying it. Each newspaper has what they call 'la ligne editoriale'. This so-called big word is like a 'camaleon', it can change within hours before publication. Just to give you an example, a one full-page interview of Dev Virahsaymy a few weeks before the 2005 general elections in News On Sunday was scrapped into a tiny 120 words article. Why? Because the paper was supporting the Jugnauths at that time. And I agree absolutely with Sanjay's comments which followed. I personally do not think we can change those old Stalin-like political parties. They have become more or less family businesses...

Aah ça, mo bourzwa, mo'nn plein essaye faire mo bann collègues dans biro comprend commier bann médias mauricien capon (ou-bien "trop baiy", dépendant ki coté barriere ou content) pou publié certains comments. Mo enkor faire commentaire lor DefiMedia.info malgré heavy edits ki zot faire, mais lexpress.mu censure mo comments 100%, tou editorial Arianne Cavalot de l'Estrac ki mo'nn comment finn tayé-razé nett. To envie check enn koutt? Nek mentionne performance (si capave appelle trois baisse consécutives enn performance...) Radio One dans dernier sondage Sofres, lerla to ava guetter comier fiel zot ena :-)
Pli loin, ou dire: "I personally do not think we can change those old Stalin-like political parties. They have become more or less family businesses..."
Abé explik moi enn koutt couma Cehl finn élu... Ki fami neo-Stalinien li sorti li? Si Cehl finn réssi bizin analyse so methode et prend compte...

@ SJ:
Thank you for the "Subramanian-Roy" paper. This confirms that there is no off-the-shelf solution to all "doomed" economies: tailor-made alternatives need to be worked out and fine-tuned along the way. Isn't it?

That's why I believe that Pravind will be a better FM than Dr RS. Of course, AMM will have to be out first. That's a sine qua non.

Sanjay Jagatsingh said...

C a c inkietan.

Sanjay Jagatsingh said...

Wi mo pense ler Meade ti analiz moris li tiena rezon pu kondamn nu. Bottom line si ou retrouss ou lamans ek ena ene leadership eklere ou kav al bien bien lwin.

Yes, AMM should be given the boot.

I perfectly agree with Sanjay's last two comments. Our big parties are now responsible for that vacuum which is being filled by CM and Gregoire and the like. They willbear the responsibilities in history unless they start to deliver from now on. But will they? Now we know where Dr RS has drown us with his stimulus packages and so on... Pravind is seen as the only hope now !!!
