Bheenick Not Dead

The Prime Minister announced yesterday that Manou will be heading back to the BOM. That doesn't come as a surprise to anybody given that he has been an excellent governor and his resolve in the face of pathological requests for rupee depreciation has been decisive in keeping Ramgoolam's chances of staying on as Prime Minister after May 5 very alive.

Sanjay, admitted Manou has been a good Governor; do not forget, Manou as Governor had other functions which included administration where he has been very bad - interdicting for petty matters, putting the workers' union 'a dos', promoting here, harassing there ... If he comes back, he will have to delegate administration to knowledgeable persons. Policies need to be executed!

We should not forget the very 'cooperative' board he was given by the DPM and Minister of Finance whose aim was to paralyse the bank by making the Governor's life difficult enough that he would quit.

The trouble for them is that Bheenick is not a quitter and although he was constantly harassed he fought back and tried to do his job as well as he could. Which the supreme court confirmed on one issue. So what you call 'very bad administration' others could call self-defense.

Besides, the Governor has had a very long and brilliant career as a civil servant and I don't recall coming across complaints about his character. But ask people and they will tell you how Sithanen tried control the Bank when he was the FM of SAJ.

We are going to see how the bank will operate with Lutchmeenaraidoo or Jugnauth as FM and a new board devoid of 'condom sellers'.

Yes Kranti, delegation to knowledgeable people is his best way out of the tense relationship he built with everyone in the administration. I can only salute Manou's resoluteness in resisting all calls for a quick depreciation of our local currency.

It is up to the blog owner to define and keep the standards.
As far as Manou is concerned we should not forget that he was and still is a politician. In fact he is actively campaigning these days. Positions of responsibility must be politically earned in Paradise Island! It will be good to see what Sir Victor had to say about the various allegations of mis-appropriations of public funds directed to the Governor.

Keshoe Matadeen, Senior Puisne Judge, et le juge Asraf Caunhye ont, dans un jugement, donné raison au management de la Banque centrale contre les membres du conseil d’administration.
