Given that a couple of years ago he did something Mauritians don't expect their former Presidents to do: get back on the soap box. The fact that he didn't find it strange for SAJ to go back to active politics fooled no one. We now hear that he is still considering making another dip into partisan politics.

Well, he's entitled to a nice fat salary, all utility bills paid for, full-time bodyguards, fuel allowance, entertainment and what not allowances, so he de facto eliminates himself as a representative of the common, lay-person. How can he grasp what they feel? When was the last time he took a bus - at peak time? Does he do his groceries himself? Does he know the price of a "pain-maison"? Of a litre of cooking oil?
