That was in his riding a few days before the June 1982 general elections. The old man was not in the best of moods as he watched those who preceded him to the mike being booed. So when it was his turn to speak he apparently greeted the hecklers in not exactly the best possible diplomatic fashion.

Would he be more diplomatic when reading this...?
I think in general he would be very sad to see how Mauritius fared after he left politics. He would definitely fail to understand how we stopped being thoughtful.
