Rich Germans Petition to Reintroduce Wealth Tax

Call it romantic or whatever, but the initiative "Vermoegende für eine Vermoegensabgabe" (Wealthy people in favor of a wealth tax) led by Dieter Lehmkuhl, a retired doctor, is laudable. The group claims that "the path out of the crisis must be paved with massive investment in ecology, education and social justice. Our aim is to send a political signal to the public and to raise consciousness for this issue in the long run". Sounds pretty proactive and common-sensical to me.

Shouldn't we invite Dieter as a contributor to Kozelidir?

Let's break it for our politicians:

Greed bad. Sharing good.

Une démarche effectivement très kozelidirienne!

The Government should not wait for the rich Mautitians to come forward. But what do we do when the same people are also in government? Wealth breeds power and vice versa. Is this democracy?

You hit where it hurts more Kozémotandé. We are trapped in a vicious circle and our very own brand of crony capitalism.

The vicious circle is made more vicious because political power has become one of the most sought-after trade or industry in the world. No wonder it is attracting the most cunning full of deceit instead of the most intelligent. Il parait que ça rapporte gros et sans grands efforts!
