Bheenick Should Make Vision 2020 Public

He referred to it nine times at his annual dinner with the economic operators last week. The Governor talked about it again a couple of days ago. And if I remember correctly it is not the first time he's mentioning it as the boss of our Central Bank. Nice.

It would be even nicer if he would do the needful to have a pdf of the document on the BOM's website. Out of intellectual courtesy. Vision 2020 could be the first document to go under "Others" in "Research and Publications". So that a maximum number of citizens can have a look at it.

You can read the draft here or go straight to the abridged version here. 2020 is already at our doors, so we need to update that paper, fast!

The real thing is always better. Especially in these times of a fluid internet.

So, with barely 5 years to 2020, we now have Vision 2030. Now what about implementation?

Wrapping everything up into a second miracle is not the smartest thing to do as it will create all kinds of expectations. Especially that when SAJ was PM between 2000 and 2003 we didn't exactly seen a miracle.

Please watch this carefully, and note how often these people keep planning ahead (50 years!) to overturn their locational disadvantages into strengths and develop opportunities.
Now you can make a simple SWOT exercise for Mauritius and voila! You have your feasible Dodoland's Vision 2065.
But for achieving this, you need incorruptible people who are obsessively dedicated to developing the whole country in an ethical manner, and putting in the means.
Do we have these special people at the helm of the country?
Or are we stuck in choosing between batt-batter and the 'least-worst'?
Tick, tock, tick, tock...
