Trump Election Not Like December 2014

Clinton lost partly because she neglected too big a segment of American voters and thought a bit like she did in 2008 that 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was hers for the taking. That was a big contrast with Trump who was very efficient in appealing to the reptilian brains of enough voters who don't understand for example that his proposed 15% flat tax is going to hurt them the most. These voters seem to be oblivious to how Reaganomics increase US debt from one to four trillion dollars in twelve years back in the 1980s. And what threw America into its worst recession in almost eight decades in 2008.

So that's very different from what happened here in 2014. It looks a lot more like the June 1982 elections when voters were not sophisticated enough to compensate for the lack of relevant information to take the decision that was in their best interests. But we've become increasingly smarter since then as a careful study would show. Intelligent enough to reject the wicked plan of a scheming trio two years ago.

Who Will Get The Nuclear Football?

According to the IEM Hillary currently has an 80% chance. That's 60% more than The Donald. But there was a similar gap like in the third week of August. Which was subsequently halved within thirty days. We have about a month to go. And Americans have preferred W over Al Gore before.

Thought Anderson Cooper did a good job yesterday. The final debate is in 10 days. At 5am.

Hollande To Face-off Sarkozy in 2012

He just defeated Martine Aubry in the second round of the Primaries organised by Le Parti Socialiste. But it's true that the incumbent President has not yet declared that he will be running again although this is widely expected. Recent polls have predicted that either Aubry or Hollande would defeat Sarkozy next year.

Five years ago, Sarkozy defeated Hollande's spouse, Dakar-born Segolene Royal in the race to L'Elysee. Still, they managed to do something the Clintons did not: both spouses getting their party's nomination in the Presidential Election.

Julian Assange Answers Questions

That was a few hours ago complimentary of The Guardian. In the meantime, Secretary of State Clinton reacted to the leaks while a Calgary Professor is now saying he's sorry about his earlier remarks that called for the assassination of Assange. The BBC expects that JA would be arrested soon on... sexual abuse charges. Here's JA talking to Chris Anderson a few months ago about why we need WikiLeaks.

Was Madam Secretary Not Briefed Properly?

To have apparently come up with a statement which Sithanen tried to leverage in paragraph 38 of his November 18 budget by attributing it to one Senator Hillary Clinton. Hmm, maybe there is a comment by Elvis about the success of his reforms in that speech too? Here's part of what was reproduced:
"They've demonstrated a commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance. Now, the people of Mauritius have been the primary beneficiaries of these reforms: it does help to unlock human potential and to create conditions where people feel that their hard work will actually be rewarded."
That's quite surprising given the supply-side madness that Sithanen has been subjecting us to and the Obama administration's drive to make America a fairer society after 8 years of Bush folly. Transparent? Like what? Like the controversial stimulus package or the yet-to-be-understood hedging scandals at the STC and MK?

I always thought that crony capitalism and good governance were two entirely different things.
