The one about electoral reform. It's mentioned so often by politicians. But as a thinking-person what have you taken away from it? How would you explain it to a friend in a couple of minutes. Incidentally there was also a select committee on electoral reform chaired by Ivan Collendavelloo in the early 2000s. Do you know what were its recommendations and if they make any sense to you?
When you go through it you realise that we don't want any of these options because they are all PR-based and they are not consistent with the character of our excellent FPTP system. There is also something interesting in that report. The commission received a memo from a high-ranking member of the cabinet. Lol!

ReplyDeleteRe: earlier comment on beginner’s mind. See, I had written 6 pieces on The Jag! before putting this comment.
Yes.
ReplyDeleteAnd it pays to issue these in installments so that it gets digested in a better way...
The issue is now to know which formula will be applied for the next election. Er, sorry, the date is still like guessing the Loto numbers...
Well,
ReplyDeleteThey were issued as I was becoming a bit less ignorant of this complex but important topic. Could allocate a max of 6 additional seats to the unsuccessful candidates with the highest vote share. We’ve already shown that this yields oppositions of much better quality.
