Civil Service Hostage of Finance Ministry

So says union boss Rashid Imrith. He reminded us that one Audit report mentioned that less than half of the occupational health and safety inspections were carried out. And that one Minister blamed the Ministry of Finance for not being able to operate his Ministry normally.

This is not exactly new stuff. Ministers between 2005 and 2010 have personally told me that Sithanen kept babbling a pair of words: pena kas. And now the CWA has started applying cuts again. Which gives us an idea of the credibility of the so-called reforms.

Imrith has also given XLD one week to meet with union leaders. Before they make a statement to the Police.

Btw, don't forget to send your best wishes.

  1. It's now publicly that ministers are asking for money: Shakeel went in first and you will recall the former MID boss too. They have also apparatenly tried to unduly influence the outcome of the PRB report. So, how many more investments like this will be delayed to keep our visitors laughing at our bragging "Mauritius, c'est un plaisir"...?

A friend of mine was saying that unlike financiers who make forecasts ahead, accountants are trained to examine what they see in the rear-view mirror - try to imagine some trying to drive ahead while looking in it...

  2. So things have reached a point where Ministries are not getting basic stuff done because of a lack of funds.

What will the bean-counters do now? Reduce corporate tax to 5%?
