Shammi Kapoor Passes Away at 79

In Mumbai a few hours ago. He was a very popular face in the 1970s -- I often got tired seeing him so much on TV instead of Amitabh -- along with his two other brothers, Shashi and Raj. And a remarkably versatile actor too. R.I.P Shammi.

  1. Another legend leaves the world. His films - less a very few - were very entertaining. He gave us a different mood with his acting.

  2. Yep. He made us happy for sure. And that for a long time too. I checked a few other clips and they indeed generate some really wonderful vibes. He will be missed.

  3. Who knew he was also known as the Indian Elvis...?
In any case, it is due to his personal involvement in the musical scores that you sense the "wonderful vibes" in his music. His choice of unrestrained, "open-throat" style that he favoured for backup vocals is also inimitable...
And just to tell you how far such a legend will be missed, ToI's top 10 actually misses firecrackers like this, this, and this...

  4. I did, I did. Well it was kind of an easy conclusion because if was not uncommon to see The King in a clip or movie after seeing Shammi in a Hindustani Feature Film. The style were similar for obvious reasons.

Yep akagugo, he leaves us with a lot good stuff to enjoy again...
