Democratisation of the Economy: Cader vs. Kee Chong

I listened through most of that debate on Radio + this afternoon and thought Kee Chong scored many political points against Cader. The latter was his usual self beating around the bush. He had little to present forward given that he did almost nothing during the last five years. Guess he will definitely need those 800 years to get something done.

Kee Chong also kept insisting that Sithanen has been very unfairly treated. Is he thinking that Sithanen did a great job and should have kept his job?

That would be quite a change from what he said a short couple of months ago.

  2. The debate, similar to the one between Bunwaree and Obeegadoo, was quite pleasant to hear. It is unforfunate that in politics well-intentioned people often find themselves in opposing roles when they should all work for the advancement of the country.
The opposotion is having a tough time having to defend Sithanen the person when they should instead demonstrate the calamity of his inhuman economic policies. Has Ramgoolam yet again neutralised his adversaries?

  4. When Kee Chong started arguing that Rama's policies were bad, Cader justified that they were those of Sithanen, then, at the end, when Kee Chong started "sympathising" with Rama on the way he (will be) fired, the same Cader had a tough time justifying that all the policies implemented by the MoF were in fact devised by the PM... Was quite entertaining...
Kee Chong needs to work on his diction, to slow down like Cader, who is like an "imperturbable" baritone robot hammering each and every syllable into your psyché. Where did he learn that?

By the way, how far the "disturbances"(reported only by "quality newspaper" so far) at Alliance de l'Avenir meetings are true: R Hawoldar being told "to pié douri pé sek", Duval being prevented from talking in Camp Levieux and Baichoo's former bodyguards trying to box their way through VOH grolébra?

Kee Chong did quite a good job in the debate. Really liked his idea of a land bank, though the details of the bidding remains to be seen. Something along the line of the way its done in Singapore would be nice.

Was funny to see Cader trying to give credit to the economic reform to the PM! Though I would say that Cader was not a worthy opponent!

We will have to wait and see on the manifesto of each of the parties. Well, most of the time, none of them are implement. So at the end of the day, it makes voting a real pain. Well, like always, we can vote with a blank piece of paper.

  7. I agree that a blank vote is also a vote and can sometimes sound louder! An MP's sense of gratitude and humility should first of all be directed towards those who voted against him/her and those who do not vote for any candidate. In fact this kind of vote will increase in the future.

  8. Abstention may be considered as a form of protest vote, when it is not assimilable to simple apathy or indifference towards politics in general.
