- turning Dodoland into Casinoland with betting and gaming houses sprouting everywhere;
- stimulating FDI and economic expansion through land speculation;
- depreciating the rupee persistently so that Mauritians subsidise fat cats;
- outsourcing policymaking to the World Bank;
- contemplating road tolls when prohibitive taxes collected are being squandered?
Ramgoolam & Sithanen keep benchmarking with US and UK to justify their measures. I wonder why they do not go the full length and implement other measures like (1) UK Govt reduced VAT to encourage Retail trade. Here VAT exemption is only given to Apollo-Bramer!!!! and an insignificant or no compensation to workers
ReplyDelete(2) Obama capped the salary of CEO and othe rtop executives of companies that had received stimulus package- Here tax payer's money is being used to help 'petit copain'
(3) 4 British ministers resigned on account of non ethical practise.....Mssrs Dullul, Beebeejaun, Jeetha, Gokhool do open your eyes, ears and ...soul if you have.
It is indeed Chronic Selective Amnesia all the way Kapil!
ReplyDeleteCheers Samad for seeing through the illusion Mauritian governments and their accomplices have been selling to naive citizens. Aren't we witnessing the same syndrome, ie corruption and property bubble, that is busting Latvia?
ReplyDeleteMevin
Dodoland is crippling under the weight of its very own twist of crony capitalism. We need more people like you Mevin with enough hindsight to expose mass deception.
ReplyDeleteNow we understand why a bean-counter used the terms "early harvest" and "bumper crop".
