Almost fell off my chair when I heard one unconstitutional DPM saying that he was prepared to downgrade his official car from a BMW 540 to a 530 following the recent ruling of the Supreme Court. While he should of course comply with the law (and we hope that he will now rapidly comply with article 5.2a of the Bank of Mauritius Act 2004), I find it totally unacceptable for public funds to be wasted on luxury items like this.
If the Minister wants to buy himself a super car with his own money that's his problem. But he should have gone a little easier with our money. Especially after having imposed a policy of ser sintir on us. Gone are the days, I guess, when the guy who envisioned and implemented free education would hop to his office in his little Hyundai.

The very fact that this guy has recognized he should downgrade his public vehicle, implies that he now realises he has been taken for a "ride".
ReplyDeleteOf course, in Dodoland, this does not matter, since the 95% comfort he will still enjoy is far, far more than he really deserves.
By the way, do you know that in Sweden ministers but their own vehicle, pay for thier own drivers andmany of the favours that our 'over-achievers' seem to take for granted.
By the way I was disappointed today that I am doing an MBA for managing businesses late. Indeed, the newly appointed minister for business, who used to be the awesome ex-minister of culture, is self-congratulating himself for having been chosen by the PM to be such a minister due "to his expertise in being a businessman and an industrialist".
Ma be he should now hold a seminar on Investments, including a discussion of Fama's observations...
I think our country is now set on the path to surpass China in Industrial achievement.
Cheers.
I think the PM should stop over in Sweden after Quebec.
