Me tiek bann mo al pli vit ek enn suri ki ek enn gro liv. Pa bizin dir. Ena osi bann lot ti diferans ant sa de diksyoner la. Diksyoner papye la li servi 'o' wadire pomdamur. Versyon Lalit pli minimalist ek paret plis otantik. Par ekzamp li pu ekrir busabus alor ki dan travay Carpooran li bousabous.

Li normal ki ena sa bann diferans la etan done ki ekrir kreol se enn zafer relativman nuvo. Bann harmonizasyon pu vini apre par zot mem.

  2. So, according to that dictionary, the equivalent of the English word ''optometrist'' in creole is ''optimetris''!!!

I never used that word and nor have I ever heard of anyone using it that way. Let me quote something from an interesting book that should illustrate the mess we are in here:

''Linguists have become a modest tribe. Long gone are the schoolmasterly days when they told the rest of us how to speak or write: linguistics has become an emphatically empirical enterprise. Because observation of human behaviour lies at the heart of this method,it is ordinary speakers and writers who determine collectively whether linguists are right—not the other way around.''

Who in his/her right mind is imposing weird words on us to the point that they have put it in a dictionary. What a mess.

As a scientist I fear that my motherland is in the grip of a few people with good but misguided intentions. Sanjay, please start realising that you shouldn't be claiming to be expert in maters in which you have no expertise ...

    Humbleness is a great virtue.

What the hell are you blabbering on about! Sure, I can give you the reference. Will you stop the blabber from now on?

''Kot mon kleym ekspertiz la Anonymous''

Have you not asked for creole to be introduced in parliament? How did you decide that is sound? Was that on the basis on some assumed expertise? Will the laws be written in creole too?

  7. @ Anonymous: "according to that dictionary, the equivalent of the English word ''optometrist'' in creole is ''optimetris''!!!"
At Lalit's online dictionary to which Anonymous refers to, there's also this entry:
    optalmolozis (n) ophthalmologist
So, this is a genuine (mistyping?) mistake that I hope you have flagged for their attention - I guess they'll highly appreciate your contribution to the advancement of this collaborative effort...

@ Anonymous: "it is ordinary speakers and writers who determine collectively whether linguists are right—not the other way around.''"
So Anonymous must surely have written to all dictionary editors out there to complain about why 'google' has become a verb!
This is actually how dogmatism starts, precisely. It's this type of regressive thinking that is driving us behind - example: while examinations are being slowly phased out from most progressive modes of delivering early education (Finland, Singapore, some African countries...) and increasingly some top universities, Anonymous is furiously driving in reverse gear: let only the 'specialists' drive us to where they want, oblivious of the context and changing environment.

@ Anonymous: "claiming to be expert in maters"
Er... does it matter who's an expert in English and doesn't use an English dictionary here?
You need experts? Okay, do you know the Colossus of Roads aka Pontifex Maximus? Thomas Telford? While he never trained in civil engineering, his works are phenomenal. Advocating for experts in a field is like requiring you to be certified in mechanical engineer to be able to drive a car. Or (like UoM) to complete a module in using one statistical analysis software to be able to complete some thesis... That's a typically corrosive local disease, preventing common people to voice out - as if an academic qualifications conferred some superiority in factual argumentation.
But on another level, the most effective policies are those that were designed from first principles, empirically by designing from bottom-up, not (dogmatically) imposing from above - it never worked, and never will. And multi-disciplinary approaches work even better because they avert silo-thinking that may ignore a black swan event. And that, experts alone can't predict. Our local ones import foreign ones and blame external shocks...

@ Anonymous: "Humbleness is a great virtue."
Practice what you preach - does that ring a bell, Sir/Madam?

@ Anonymous: "Have you not asked for creole to be introduced in parliament? How did you decide that is sound?"
Well, the argumentation is abundantly clear. Unless you can offer some counter-arguments, if any.

  9. Will have to check that Telford guy. Seems to me that’s another example of a beginner’s mind (which generates beginner’s luck). Which is how I approach stuff. For example I dived into electoral reform because what Dr. TINAnen was proposing simply didn’t add up before mastering the vocabulary and knowing how electoral systems work. So I kept thinking about this topic, checked the data, found some very interesting stuff, updated my views and continually tried to destroy them to prove they are on a firm footing (the bean-counter’s proposal is embarrassingly weak as it takes only a few minutes to demolish). I knew I had found a good solution when others or I couldn’t find flaws with it.

It’s only a lot later that I skimmed the Sachs and Collendavelloo reports. Incidentally I noticed that my solution solves a problem mention in the latter report.

Thinking with your hands yields plenty of benefits.
