Still Think Ramgoolam is Not Made For Politics?

Or you might be in the mood for that dumb fairy tale that his dad had said he should never dab into politics. The way he's been controlling the local political chessboard for the past 10 or so years should be ample proof that he simply has no match for now. It's not that he's invincible. Rather his opponents are painfully too weak.

Granted the PM has matured quite a bit: he's been understanding the importance of monetary policy for a while now; foreign policy has become more skillful (the opposition simply cannot deliver this kind of performance) and the toxic bean-counting duet has been neutered. Yet, he still doesn't have a legacy that will not be sneezed at. After three terms.

That could change in a few weeks when he presents his first -- and much awaited -- budget.

People know the kind of disastrous outcomes to expect if he returns.

We also know that we shouldn't lose too much sleep over the Doing Business rankings. And here's a little write-up about how our economy was mismanaged under his watch.

Who will vote for this guy? Lol! Jack Bizlall?

At least Vishnu is not afraid of saying openly his distaste of gatopimanomics. Wonder who are the other two who abstained... Kee Cheong?

If we follow Bizlall's tantrums - read his recent interview in l'express - right-thinking Mauritians should rally around Ivan Collendavello, Reza Uteem, Arvin Boolell, Rama Sithanen etc but cry foul over Manou Bheenick. Wonder why he feels no likings for Ashok Subron and Lindsy Collen who are infinitely more sophisticated and consistent. Candid Nathalia Vadamootoo had it wrong on this one. The trouble is that Bizlall is an influential bloke. Look at how Ramgoolam has picked so promptly Bizlall's obsession with a constitutional overhaul and a 2e république to self-serve. In fact, I have serious reservations about his actual credibility. His picky approach to corruption and local heroes simply puts me off! What about you guys?

You just summed up the tragedy: it's just like his mentor Paul, who reneged what he said two weeks before joining hands with Navin. Add to it an air of all this being the most natural of things to do. Betray your own word just for fulfilling one lifetime fantasy. Pourvu qu'ça dure!

Ramgoolam malin. Li tann Jack koz 2e repiblik li nek rekiper sa abilman dan so kominikasyon politik. Nu ena enn mari konstitisyon ek enn system elektoral ki pu servi nu mari byen pu ankor plizir siek. Ena zis enn 2 ti retus pu fer.

Anvi enn prev? Nek ekut sa interviu interesan ki Alain Bertrand ti fer ek Jack an desam 2013. Tu bann rezon ki li done pu 2e repiblik kav fer dan nu system aktiel.

----------------------------------------------------

SITHANEN IS THE DANGER TO THE POPULATION...THE MAN IS BACK.

Beware of your purse.
Beware of your little asset you have.
Beware of how you will manage your kitchen, especially I make an appeal to all housewives for this.
Beware how Sithanen will deal with your pouvoir d achat ladies n gentlemen. He is a man of the private sector so all articles and items de base in supermarkets will go up and rocketing sky high.
Remember what Sithanen did on our lands by putting NRPT for most of us to pay.
Was it not Sithanen that has made the middle class poor.
Was it not Sithanen that has augmented your car vehicle excise licence and insurance.
Was it not Sithanen that has helped the private sector at the expense and detriment of the poor people.
Now that man is back and despite what he told us regarding donn enn koute main a Ramgoolam et MMM, he is fooling us again because he would be given an investiture as a Labour candidate in Rajesh Bhagwan constituency. IF EVER YOU CARE FOR YOUR FAMILY,YOUR PURSE, YOUR ASSET, YOU SHOULD KICK HIS ARSE AND NEVER VOTE FOR SUCH A MAN. IF YOU VOTE HIM,HE WILL SUCK OUR BLOOD AGAIN LIKE HE DID WHEN HE WAS FINANCE MINISTER. I NEVER FORGET THAT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. Think of your family and country and NEVER vote for such a man who had caused us lots of harm than happiness lots of inconveniences than conveniences in both our homes and businesses. Remember people who had small business enterprises have had to close down when Sithanen was a Finance Minister.

Ah, welcome back, Anonymous!
It confirms that people are quite afraid to divulge their identity and and "avoir le courage de ses opinions". Should this be linked with the diffuse sense of being actively monitored or spied upon by Big Brother?
And yet, apparently more than 90% of Dodolanders gave their biometric (thumbprints and facial) data to that same Big Brother already. Go figure.
For fear of "gagne problem", again?

Answering the question: Ramgoolam Jr, probably no more - but for this lady, at the helm of her party, increasingly yes. We have yet to see another politician who answers questions and face challenges with so much poise.

That was a good interview by Nita. It's a shame she didn't get any ministerial responsibilities during her two consecutive terms.
