Obesity Cost America USD 450 Billion

According to analysis done by McKinsey. The second biggest item of this bill is the 20% (USD 90 billion) that is spent on larger food purchases. That's like 40 times our national budget in case you're wondering. Naturally, bigger people need bigger clothes (USD 30 billion) and weight-reducing programmes (USD 20 billion) to fit in these larger clothes. And they need more wood for their coffins. But the largest component is the cost to the American medical system: USD 160 billion.

People are in fact getting fat around the world save Japan. Maybe that's because they've been on a deflationary diet for so long.

Yes, and it's only the beginning: apart from the consequences of trans-fats, there's a heavier price to pay for binging on red meat!

And while you're at it, try to imagine what 2000 calories look like.
