Berenger Making Sure Dead MMM Will Implode

After wasting five years deciding who he will present as Prime Minister and making a costly mistake in not supporting Pravind Jugnauth in the last bye-election, Berenger's now wants to bring his shrinking political base back to 12 August 1971 or exactly 38 years ago. That's after the MMM essentially accused voters of being racists for not liking Ton Paulo's skin in the last general elections after the same voters allowed him to get the land's top job in 2003.

The pseudo-marxists better find another leader quickly, try to have a serious plan for Mauritius for the first time in their 40 year-history and resume talks with the MSM shortly. Or face the perils of not indulging in succession-planning -- a bit like the Labour Party in 1982 -- again.

I dont think that a party who can score 40% in a rural area (no 8) where it is presumably weak, with handicaps like VoH against it etc... can be considered 'dead'. Le MMM passe par un moment difficile, oui, mais il n'est pas mort.

Well, it is quite surprising that the MMM didn't put a candidate in there to capitalise on the worst economic management our country has known since independence. That's after losing all the towns (its historic stronghold) as well as government in 2005. good old Karl

Bruno has got a point. The MMM is not dead, fortunately for the country. Its leaders might be. The MMM's worst ennemy is the MMM. Ils ont pactisé avec le diable à chaque fois qu'ils sont venus au pouvoir, faisant fi de leurs propres principes. They had plenty of opportunities to give a different direction to state governance. They squandered them all to the detriment of their electorate and of the whole country.

So it's possible for a party not to be dead although its leaders are. Hmm, interesting. Is it then possible for a party to be dead while its leaders are alive and kicking?

Donc les principes du MMM c'est de pas en avoir alors.

The worst thing that could happen to Dodoland is to have a Parti Unique at the helm. The MMM is a strong political force but not enough to gain power on its own. If not in power it plays the important hygienic role of opposition. Let it be.

The tragedy with the present leaders of the MMM is that they are very very short of time. They desperately want to gain power and they are ready to compromise on nearly everything to do that. The MMM will shine again when its leaders will be replenished.

Current troubles of the MMM are no surprise.
